The Last Cake.

October 12, 2010

I finished the last cake.  I’m officially semi-retired (ya know, except for cupcakes..and my sister-in-law’s wedding when that happens).

This cake was for my cousin, Nicole.  Originally it was supposed to be light pink with black sugar pearls and bright pink ribbon.  Well, it turns out that every black sugar pearl in existence was snatched up for Halloween before October even began, so we had to do some changing.  In my opinion, it worked out for the better.  The cake REALLY went with the decor at her reception.

The groom’s cake is one of the most fun I’ve ever made.  Just looking at it makes me smile!

So, this is my sign off for making wedding cakes.  I know that some people will be disappointed–I’ve already heard it from a few people–but trust me when I say that you do not want me to make your cake while I’m getting my PhD.  It just won’t be pretty.  And your cake will suffer because of it.
